April 24, 2024 SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING
"FICO has responsibly farmed along the Santa Cruz River in both Sahuarita and Green Valley since 1949. FICO initially grew cotton in the 1950s and then, with significant investment, transitioned to pecans in the 1960s.
For over sixty years, we have been safely farming pecans."
A PUBLIC REQUEST FOR INFORMATION WAS SUBMITTED BY A CONCERNED CITIZEN TO OBTAIN LETTERS SENT TO THE TOWN OF SAHUARITA BY FICO.

Farmers Investment Company (FICO) to Town of Sahuarita - December 7, 2023
"As you know, FICO believes that any decision to issue the Vulcan Materials CUP would be an abuse of discretion and contrary to law, because it would adversely affect the surrounding area and allow the illegal expansion of a non-conforming use. "As you know, for the Town and the public to fully evaluate the impacts on the Town’s quality of life from the proposed facility, much more information is needed. This information includes engineering and design specifications for the proposed facility and should include, but not limited to, plant capacity, dimensions (footprint and height, including of the stack), location within the gravel pit, air pollution abatement measures, and chemical composition of the oil they propose burning, especially the sulfur content; and estimated emissions..."
