Concerned Citizens raise additional concerns.

Many citizens reference the FICO/Green Valley Pecan Company letter sent to the Town on December 7th in response to the CUP Approval Process Discussion.

Citizens Raise new concerns at the Sahuarita Town Council Meeting November 13, 2023 

Jim Burkstrand - raises concern that the Town needs to adhere to 2018 and 2003 International Fire codes and require an above grade crossing condition. 

Dave Wolf - reviews community groups (voters) concerned about the Vulcan plant and potential for unconscious bias by Town of Sahuarita reviewers and approvers. 

Linda Beal - discusses why a $25 fee/fine will not limit 24X7 asphalt plant operating hours and the misuse of industry classification for asphalt plant.

Dr. L. Sbarra - explains why Vulcan Conditions may and should require an environment impact study through health department or other state or local agency.


Mark Zimmerman - reviews case studies of other cities where asphalt manufacturers withdrew CUPs or shutdown due to citizen impact. 

Richard Curotto - discusses What do the law and rule of law have in common. Importance of adhering to the Aspire plan.


Randy White - recounts Dow Chemical plant explosion and lessons learned that should be considered with Sahuarita Vulcan plant.

Dr. L. Sbarra - reviewed Health Effects of Vulcan's Emissions on Medically Vulnerable Groups in Sahuarita.  View Presentation.
